Aside from the famous jingle "Malaysia, truly Asia", I barely know Malaysia which made me excited to visit this country. Malaysia is actually the first part of my mini-Asia tour. From the Philippines, I went straight to Singapore and instead of riding the bus, I booked a flight to KL via Tiger Airways. The price difference between Tiger Air and the bus is almost minimal so you might want to consider taking the airplane if your itinerary is tight, which is my case.
My friends and I booked a hotel near KL Sentral Station, mainly for its strategic location. From the airport, there's a train going to Sentral station. Alternatively, you can also take the bus. We did take the bus because it was cheaper and the downside was the traffic which we didn't foresee. It took us about 2 hours to arrive to KL Sentral whereas it could have been a smooth 30-minute ride if we took the train.
I just really went around the city and the highlight would be going up to Genting Highlands. It is an hour away from KL and you can take the bus in KL Sentral. Just a tip of advice, book a round-trip bus ticket to Genting. The queue can be really wild which can potentially destroy your planned itinerary.
Briefly, here's my mini-Asia tour itinerary so you can connect my blog entries:

The Oldtown White Coffee is the largest coffee chain in Malaysia. You shouldn't miss this! |
I was advised to see Petronas at night so I can appreciate the lights. I'm glad I did. However, if you choose to visit this at night, you won't be able to get the tour inside the building. If you will be staying in KL for a long time, try visiting it both in the morning and evening.
