Taiwan

Updating this blog entry with my travel video :)

While waiting for our flight back to Manila, I decided to update this travel blog with some highlights of ourTaipei tour.

We stayed here for three days, just enough to escape Manila's 35deg C heat and enough to celebrate life.

Im updating this blog through my phone so I'll keep it short in the meantime. We stayed in Friends Hotel, choose the one in Heping Road. It's a budget hotel but it's clean, accessible, safe and decent. Literally, the MTR station is just a few steps away from the hotel.

First Day:

Our first day itinerary is comprised of the basic must-see tourist attractions. We went to Taipei 101 but we ended up not getting the tour as we were more excited to try the famous Din Tai Fung dumpling house. The queue is a bit long but trust us when we say "it's all worth it". Of course don't forget to try their Xiao Long bao.

We were also distracted by Uniqlo located at the City Hall station. We just had to stop ourselves and rush to the more "cultured" activities and that is visiting Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall and Miniature museum.

We were lucky to have witnessed the changing of the guards in Sun Yat Sen's main hall. It was quite an experience to see this. We were all awed by the precise movements of the guards. We were there around 4:30 PM, hope you guys could catch this as well.

The Miniature museum features replicas of important architecture and places around the world. We ended the night at Ximending Night Market :)

And oh! We went to Eslite Bookstore! It's a 24hour bookstore. That's when I realized there is a market for a 24 hour bookstore. It is jam-packed!

2nd Day:
Second day is dedicated for Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Park and National Museum. If you are a sucker for "learning-local-culture-in-a-day", then you should not miss these two sites.

We headed to Shilin night market for street food feast.

3rd Day:
Third and last day was rather a laid back day but a refreshing one. We went to Treasure hill artist village. It's comparable maybe to Korea's Bukchon Village only that this one is a community of artists. There is no specific theme for their work exhibits. I am not an artist but I truly appreciate art so this one was priceless.

The boarding counters have opened, time to board back to Manila.

Goodbye Taipei! Thanks for an amazing weekend.
